I wear you on my skin

I wear you on my skin

There’s a quiet when your away

I’ve done this familiar quiet times

Before you

Then it brought peace

Now it brings an aloneness

I’ve not known before

I have lived in solitude

Years, keeping my thoughts to my own

Without understanding the feeling of sharing

Being heard

And still being loved

Our home has a gentle kindness

In its walls

Breathing life

Just knowing of your breath

In the distance

Your life

The bright it exudes

We all feel it, consume it

There’s a star in the sky

Calling out your name

The one God made for you at birth

Sometimes you don’t even

Know or see its existence

But I do

I wear you on my skin

The internal being’s

First defense

An immune response of guard

You hold me in the onslaught of fear

When insecurity has its way

Let me bathe in the goodness

And in the honesty given

Only at its proper time

I wear you on my soul

Since the birth of my times beginning

For I was made for you.
